Take the apathetic models from Diesel ads, add a ruckus of grotesque american fast food influence, complete with a quarrel of icons all wrapped in a modern day baroque stance, and you've got a sign of the very present times. Daryoush Asgar and Elisabeth Gabriel of Vienna, capture it beautifully in these massive masterpieces. Jonathan and I originally saw the duo at the Pulse art fair in New York City last April, and now featured at the Mark Moore Gallery in Los Angeles.
Accidently missing the opening party due to our ever-frequent ability to un-cleverly mix up showtimes, we were thankfully able to breath in the big and bold artwork once again in the closing minutes of the gallery. As we stood and admired that which was presented before us, we gasped," these are truely the paintings that explain this era, now".
